The Western Australian city of Perth has recently welcomed a new hotel to its lineup of accommodation on offer for those travelling to the ‘city of light’. Located on the edge of the city’s CBD, the Alex Hotel offers more than just a bed for out of town guests with its website acting as part travel guide and part local companion with its list of restaurants, cafes, must see cultural events and activities while at the same time pointing out of towners in the right direction of a chemist, a bank or a nearby yoga class. It would seem that at the Alex Hotel, customer service means a lot more than just recommending the same old restaurant located around the corner that was hot once – but is no longer. Eastern states take note!
With 74 rooms to choose from, guests can take their pick from a range of small, medium, large, extra large, bunk or family rooms available which is great for those with more than the standard 2.4 children in the family or for anyone travelling on their own. The masterminds behind this new hotel concept obviously recognise that there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution when it comes to accommodating guests from all four corners of the earth.
While this boutique hotel is not necessarily high end luxe, it is design savvy without being stuffy, and is unbelievably well priced. The Alex is relaxed and friendly by nature and the Shadow Wine Bar and Dining Room is just the tonic for those wanting to escape their room and the children in it …or is that just us?
